Unfortunately, when you grab onto the next row of seats, they’ll break and send you through a window, back out to the train-car’s exterior. You’ll automatically miss once, so climb up and try again to continue your ascent. When you reach the top of a row of seats, you’ll need to jump right and grab the next row. Inside, use the train-car’s seats to climb up the interior. Use these to hoist yourself into the car’s interior. The pipe will eventually give way and spin you around to the left side of the car, placing you directly next to a few notches. Follow the yellow piping up, then left across the undercarriage, and slowly ascend the dangling train-car’s long yellow pipe. Don’t fret, it won’t knock you all the way off, but it will set you back a few notches. You’ll be forced to climb along the car’s right side and will get knocked by falling debris. Once you’re on the other side of the train-car (you’ll be hanging from its undercarriage now), begin slowly climbing upward. Look for these golden clues if you’re ever stuck and don’t know where to monkey around. Most every object that is brightly colored yellow of that same hue indicates that it can be climbed, shimmied, slid upon, or otherwise used to navigate the level.
Tip: Notice how that yellow bar saving your life is bright yellow? Get used to it. No time to guess how he got here, instead begin sliding left, hand over hand, until you’re on the other side. He’s helplessly dangling high above a snowy mountain-side, as he grips for dear life to the tail end of a train-car. Walkthrough Chapter 1: A Rock and a Hard PlaceĪfter the opening cinematic, you take control of Nathan. Conversely, if you pop out of cover even for a second, chance are you’ll be spotted.
While moving from cover to cover, you’ll maintain near invisibility. Shift from cover to cover as you move around a map. Like stealth, you’ll take less damage and gain a strategic advantage over enemies. As soon as the action slows down a little bit, press the Triangle button to counter attack. This is the best way to get rid of pesky foes within close quarters, since aiming a weapon can be tricky up close. Use CQC if an enemy is bold enough to run you. If you don’t have a clean shot or need to use suppression fire, use the blindfire ability while behind cover. Reload only when you need to – mistiming a reload can cost you your life. Try to aim for the head as much as possible. As you might expect, head shots are better than body shots. If they’re looking in your direction, chances are they’ll see you when you pop out. Watch enemies’ movements and patrol patterns. If you run, you’ll make more noise and draw attention. Move slowly – gently nudge the left analog stick – to keep your movement quiet. Not only will you incur less damage, but you’ll also gain double the ammo from dropped weapons (look for the ninja icon on dropped weapons) If you don’t have the patience for stealth, have fun shredding enemies whenever they get in your way – unless a mission requires stealth, of course! ControlsĬircle Drop down (while climbing) / Evasive Roll If you’re a big fan of stealth gameplay, try finding ways to silently stalk your opponents as much as possible. Keep in mind, however, that you may want to play around a bit and find different ways to approach each mission. That’s what works for me, and that’s how I feel I get the most out of this game. Note: For readers that are interested in the Walkthrough section of this FAQ, please keep in mind that I’ve approached the game with a decent mix of stealth and ‘run-and-gun’ tactics.
